What does it mean to be a Bahá’í?

Anyone can become a member of the Bahá’í Faith. To be a Bahá’í means to believe in one’s heart that Bahá’u’lláh is the Messenger of God for this Day, and to commit to following His Teachings and obeying the laws and administrative institutions of the Faith that He ordained.

Communing with God

If these two conditions are true for you, then you are already a Bahá’í!

This comes about, of course, through a very personal process of independent investigation of the truth which is emphasized in the Bahá’í Writings. Once this decision has been made, the individual notifies the Bahá’í community, through the responsible Bahá’í administrative institution, of their belief, usually by signing an enrollment card.

What follows here are some brief descriptions of a few aspects of the Bahá’í Faith and the day-to-day life of a Bahá’í.
