What Bahá’ís Strive For

In Bahá’u’lláh’s Teachings He tells us that it is through the establishment of unity that world peace and security will at last be accomplished. In one of His Writings He says,

“The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.”

By working to bring our thoughts and actions in line with our belief in the oneness of humankind, Bahá’ís all over the world strive to overcome prejudices of religion, nation, gender, race and class. Bahá’u’lláh said, “The tabernacle of unity hath been raised; regard ye not one another as strangers. Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch.” He also enjoined upon His followers to “consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship.” Through our efforts to build unity among all the members of the human race, the Bahá’í community works to accomplish the central aim of Bahá’u’lláh’s Faith: the unity of all humankind, the establishment of a lasting peace, and the building of a world civilization based on the oneness and wholeness of the entire human race.
