The Bahá’í Faith is a world religion whose purpose is to unite all races and peoples
in one universal Cause and one common Faith. Bahá’u’lláh, the Founder of the Bahá’í
Faith, describes this primary theme of His Teachings:
Members of the Bahá’í Faith
“That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and
mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples
in one universal Cause, one common Faith.”
“Bahá’u’lláh has drawn the circle of unity, He has made a design
for the uniting of all the peoples, and for the gathering of them all under the
shelter of the tent of universal unity.” — ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
The central theme of Bahá’u’lláh’s Message is that humanity is one single race
and the time has come when it is destined to grow into and become united in one
global society. In the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’u’lláh’s Son and Successor,
He likens the human race to a garden in which grow flowers of infinite variety and
color. The differences in physical appearance, temperament, background, thought
and opinion that exist among us should not give rise to conflict. The beauty of
the human family, like the flowers of the garden, comes from this diversity.
According to the Teachings of the Bahá’í Faith, God never leaves us alone and without
guidance. Bahá’ís view the world’s major religions as a part of a single, progressive
process through which God educates and reveals His Will to humanity. Bahá’u’lláh
is recognized as the most recent in a line of Divine Messengers which includes Abraham,
Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad.
